Te Kapa Puāwai is heading home to Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi with the Poutoko o Te Whenua, the trophy from the national primary schools kapa haka, in it luggage.

Second at Te Mana Kuratahi in Nelson was Te Kapa Haka o Te Pūwhāriki from Te Kura o Maungatapu in Tauranga, with Ngā Taiohi from Te Kura o Te Teko coming third.

Ngati Awa will host the next competition, with the mauri handed over to the kaitātaki tāne for Ngā Taiohi at the close of proceedings yesterday.
