Kuia does IronMāori for mokopuna
IronMāori celebrates 15 years tomorrow in Ahuriri, the place where the Māori-focused triathlon started.
It’s changed many lives, including that of first-timer Aroha Te Wao, who has embraced an active lifestyle since she was diagnosed with diabetes 12 years ago.
She says she’s entered in the kaumatua section as a way to inspire her 17 mokopuna.
“I’m just trying to show that to my mokopuna you know, the more you do with my health and fitness the more you get better,” she says.
Aroha Te Wao says she has concerns about the ocean swim, but with her friends tagging along she’ll get through.
