Tamihere talks up clean sweep prospect

Māori Party president John Tamihere claims that based on internal polling, the party could pull off a clean sweep of the Māori seats.
He says the party is light years ahead of where it was in 2020, with totally different energy.
“So don’t be surprised. I’m telling you right now, in terms of some of the internal polling, there is a shift on. The question is the extent of it. We knew in May we will take no less than three (seats), but this could be a ’96 or a ’99 moment where all seven come our way,” he says.
Mr Tamihere says Te Pāti Māori has the best billboards in every electorate and flag waving on every corner, while Labour’s Māori candidates have been told to go quiet with no new policy to announce.
