Che Wilson from Ngati Rangi has been appointed chair of Tekaumaarua, the advisory council for Kiingi Tuheitia.
The council met at Turangawaewae on Saturday for its first face-to-face meeting in three years.
Mr Wilson succeeds Rikirangi Gage, who remains a member of the council.
Kiingi Tuheitia also invited Hone Harawira to represent Te Tai Tokerau and Turi Ngatai to represent Tauranga Moana.
Mr Wilson says the Kiingitanga has always advocated for kotahitanga and mana motuhake because its foundation has been to deliver unity, pride, and cultural and social wellbeing.
Thousands of people have been through the koroneihana hui over the past three days.
The hui winds up with a speech by Kiingi Tuheitia at noon.
