Tama Potaka input likely in Nat policy
National Party deputy leader Nicola Willis says she’s looking forward to Tama Potaka’s contributions to caucus.
The official count of the Hamilton West by-election will be confirmed next week, and the former Ngai Tai ki Tamaki chief executive will be sworn into parliament in the new year.
Ms Willis says she’s delighted for him and the people of Hamilton West.
“Tama brings a variety of experiences and skills that I think will really contribute to our caucus and the shaping of policy , his leadership of Iwi, his work at the Superfund,” she says.
Tama Potaka was the chief executive of Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki and a senior advisor to the NZ Super Fund. He spent more than seven years as a manager at Tainui Group Holdings, contributing to many of the tribe’s Hamilton developments.
Tama has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University and a Master of Laws from Columbia University.
