Te Arawa closes vaccination hub
It’s the last day for Te Arawa’s successful drive-through covid vaccination centre tomorrow.
Kaumatua Monty Morrison says the Clayton Road hub will open from 12.30 to 3.30pm – with a chance for some to win kina or meatpacks and get icecream for the kids.
He says the hub has done more than 18,000 vaccinations thanks to a monumental effort by everyone involved
“We knew that we had to do it quickly. It was September last year, we were already in lockdown and the vaccinations were under way, and we were wondering how we could do something with scale, and this seemed to be a good idea. We were able to do within a week to get it up and running and let people know we were there,” Mr Morrison says.
Monty Morrison says vaccinations will still be available from GPs, pharmacies and a city hub on the Fenton/Arawa Street corner.
