Māori planners swap notes on resource law reform
Māori planners are warning tangata whenua are running out of time to have their say on the way the environment will be managed for the next generation.
Submissions on the first 2 of 3 proposed bills to replace the 30-year-old Resource Management Act close on January 30.
Landcare researcher Lara Taylor says Māori planners have been using online hui to share strategies and identify contentious parts of the massive documents.
The third free zui is this afternoon, led by kaupapa Maori environmental consultant Tina Porou of Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Tuwharetoa.
We’ve just organically started doing these online wananga – and of course online is probably not ideal. But it actually opens up accessibility for a lof of us to get collectivised, and be able to support each other.
Lara Taylor says planners can google “A Kōrero on the Draft Resource Management Bills” – to find the link for the zui.
