Jackson wants second chance on media muddle

Broadcasting Minister Willie Jackson says the media is out of step with the public on the merger of the state’s radio and television services.
Mr Jackson faced a media scrum on his way to caucus this morning over his chaotic weekend interview with Q and A presenter Jack Tame.
He says while his interview style may not have worked on that occasion, the select committee process has revealed a high level of support.
“I don’t get much negative feedback on the ground. We had 900 submissions – 60-70 percent support the principle of it. But I accept the media is probably 95, 99 percent against it, I’ve heard what the media have said and I’ll try and do better next time Jack Tame interviews me,” he says.
Minister Jackson says he has had “constructive” talk with the Prime Minister about the Jack Tame interview.
