Iwi partnership to build Taitokerau housing
Up to 100 houses will be built in Taitokerau through a new investment partnership between the crown and a collective of Māori housing service providers supported by iwi, hapū and ahu whenua Trusts.
Associate Housing Minister Peeni Henare says partnership is the key to tackling the housing crisis.
Tūāpapa Kura Kainga will work with Te Pouahi o Te Taitokerau on the prototype delivery model for the $55 million programme.
There’s $30 million to build up to 100 affordable rental homes over the next three years, and $20 million to cover infrastructure costs for 110 sites, with the balance for operational costs and, technical support and building capacity.
