Māori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi has thanked his parliamentary colleagues for supporting his motion acknowledging the admission of Māori songwriting legends Ngoi Pewhairangi and Tuini Ngawai into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
He says they made a major contribution to Māori music and culture.
“You acknowledge the pataka i runga korero they created through hundreds of songs, their contribution to the modern day kapa haka, their contribution to modern music, and we just have to look at Pātea (Maori Club) and Auntie Ngoi’s contribution there,” he says.
