Mātauranga on app for mental health mindfulness

A Māori yoga and meditation facilitator has developed what he’s calling the first wellbeing app to incorporate mātauranga and indigenous wellbeing practices.
M3 Whānau, which was released yesterday on World Mental Health Day, is designed to help people embed simple, healthy habits into their routines.
Jase Te Patu is the founder of M3 Mindfulness, which used pūrākau and whakataukī to teach mindfulness and movement in schools.
He says M3 Whānau will make the principles from M3 Mindfulness accessible for pakeke.
Collaborators on the app include youth psychiatrist Dr Hinemoa Elder, translator Hēmi Kelly, Stacey Morrison, Pere Wihongi, and composer Jerome Kavanagh, providing taonga puoro soundscapes.
