Māori trade hui as world opens up

Māori trade group Te Taumata is looking to develop a Māori trade action plan.
Chair Chris Karamea Insley says on the back of a highly successful series of region hui with trade ministers and officials, a hui will be held at parliament next Tuesday.
He’s expecting up to 200 Māori business heavyweights as well as ministers and department heads.
“This is an absolute first, the biggest hui to bring all our Maori people together and have this joined up discussion. New Zealand and the world is starting to open up, Now is the time to get back out there and tell our story to the world,” Mr Insley says.
He says upcoming free trade agreements with the United Kingdom, European Union and United States should create massive opportunities and will allow Maori business to diversify from an over-reliance on Asia.
