Defense Minister Peeni Henare says a contingent of defense personnel is heading to London to be part of the procession for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth on Monday.
That’s on top of the official Aotearoa Party that includes leading Maori including Governor General Dame Cindy Kiro, New Zealander of the Year Ta Tipene O’Regan, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Ngati Ranana honorary president Whaea Esther Jessop.
“I’m really proud that the group going to pay their respects, they are of the ilk we would like to be there to represent us and I can tell you as Minister of Defence, quite a contingent of Defence Force personnel have headed over to be part of the funeral procession and I’m sure they will do us proud,” Mr Henare says.
