Can do Eagle ready to fix pipes
Wellington mayoral candidate Paul Eagle says he knows what’s needed to fix the capital’s failing drainage system.
The Rongotai MP and former deputy mayor is a strong contender in a field of seven, with one-term incumbent Andy Foster and former Green Party chief of staff Tory Whanau also figuring on the racing sheet.
He says the heavy rains this winter have put long-neglected infrastructure to the test, and it has failed.
“I’m not surprised some of this has all come to a point where pipes are busting and the city is literally bursting at its seams. It’s also right to have a new mayor with a practical vision and a can-do attitude to get things like that fixed,” he says.
Paul Eagle says people want the basic stuff done – the pipes fixed, the rubbish picked up, the council phone line answered when they ring.
