Mana in Mahi proves worth for jobseekers
Mana in Mahi has exceeded its target with more than 5000 young people being supported into jobs or education.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says with unemployment at a record low and economic activity growing, the programme is playing its part in building a skilled workforce and a resilient economy.
Social Development and Employment Minister Carmel Sepuloni say 75 per cent of participants who had been on a benefit for two or more years haven’t come back on to a benefit after completing the Mana in Mahi programme.
Mana in Mahi matches employers with people who are keen to start a career and need extra support to begin and maintain their work and training.
Employers are supported by the costs of pre-employment and on-the-job training.
