State Highway 35 may be cut off at the moment, but Rob Ruha and Ka Hao’s hit song 35 is in contention for this year’s APRA Silver Scroll Award.
Other songs to make the Top 20 finalists include Marlon Williams’ My Boy, Taku Raumiri by Herea Winitana and Turanga Merito, and two tunes with a Troy Kingi credit, He Orite and My Heart Never Stops.
The five finalists for the Maioha Awards are another Rob Ruha number, Taera; Te Aroha Mauroa written and performed by MOHI; Ria Hall’s Rangatira/Owner; E Hine Ē written by Em-Haley Walker; and Te Iho written by Aja Ropata, Byllie-Jean and Chris Wethey.
APRA members have until August 8 to vote for their Top 5 Silver Scroll and Top 3 Maioha waiata, and the awards ceremony will be held at Spark Arena in Tāmaki Makaurau on October 18.
