Kāpō Māori eye on the future

The roopu for vision-impaired Māori, Kāpō Māori Aotearoa New Zealand, is teaming up with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists to address eye health for Māori.
Kāpō Māori president Nigel Ngahiwi says the action plan includes issues like building a Māori workforce and making sure Māori have the information to access the services and care they need,
He says Māori can get lost in the language.
“Our people just don’t have the information. A lot of our people don’t understand when you are going in to get eye checks and that, there are all these medical terms we don’t quite understand,” Mr Ngahiwi says.
