Pāmu taps Māori experience for board


Two wahine Māori have been appointed to the board of Landcorp Farming-Pāmu.
Claire Nicholson from Ngāti Ruanui, Ngāruahine and Ngāti Kahungnunu is a registered veterinarian who has worked extensively in business development and product development roles.
She’s also a director of Taranaki’s Paraninihi ki Waitotara Incorporation, PKW Farms, and Farmlands Cooperative, and the chief executive of Sirona Animal Health Ltd.
Desiree Mahy from Tūhoe is a lawyer, mediator and facilitator.
She’s a former director of Māori learner services at Otago Polytechnic and is currently a senior advisor for Te Puni Kōkiri in Otago and is a supervisor for the Ngāi Tahu Law Centre.
Pāmu chair Dr Warren Parker says they will add strength to initiatives from animal health and welfare to further incorporating of te ao Māori into Pāmu’s approach to farming.
