Murihiku mourns crash four
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson has attended the tangi of one of the four Murihiku teenagers who died in a vehicle accident in Invercargill last Friday.
The funeral was held today for Konnor Steele at the Bluff Rugby Club.
Mr Jackson, who is in Southland for a Māori tourism event, says the tragedy has hit the community hard.
“This one down here is incredibly sad. We’ve got a community that is very shocked at what happened to these young men. It shows you about life, I suppose – it can be fleeting,” he says.
The tangi for O Maruhuatau Otuwhare Tawhai is tomorrow at Ngā Hau e Whā Marae in Invercargill, for Kyah Kennedy at Te Rau Aroha Marae in Bluff until Friday, and the funeral service for Indaka Rouse is at Te Rau Aroha on Saturday.
