Covid response money diverted to research

The Government has earmarked $9 million funds from its $74 billion COVID-19 response fund for research into the pandemic.
Health Minister Andrew Little says areas to be studied could include how different sectors of society, including Māori, Pacific and disabled communities, are affected by COVID, and what has been learned about working with them.
That will help government understand what still needs to be done and prepare for future pandemics.
Mr Little says understanding the methods used to get four million people vaccinated against COVID-19 can help in other vaccination programmes.
Research proposals need to be in by June 10.
