Social distancing tempers tourism buzz

Tourism is set to ramp up as the borders reopen, but the chair of Māori Tourism warns Māori operators will need to think carefully about the what they offer.
Dale Stephens says manuhiri will arrive with some Covid restrictions in place.
He says that could challenge Māori operators who offer manaakitanga, whakawhanaungatanga, great kai and a real personal experience.
“Now a lot of that requites, we talk about social distancing, so its how we can operate those types of experiences for our guests in a way that still gives them the mauri or the ngakau of the experience but it doesn’t impinge on what we are trying to do with health and safety,” Mr Stephens says.
