Petone-based polytechnic WelTec has teamed up with Te Rūnanganui o Te Āti Awa to deliver care and kai packages to students isolating with Covid 19.
Kaiwhakahaere Māori Hinemoa Priest says they’re currently supporting more than three dozen students and their whānau.
Solo mother Te Ao Herbert-Te Awa, who has recovered and is back on campus, says she had to isolate herself for more than two weeks when she and her daughter tested positive, so the packages were a huge relief, as she was also off work and needed it to use what cash she had for rent and utilities.
