Māori leaders slammed for silence as Covid precautions trashed
Minister Kelvin Davis wants to know where the Government’s Māori critics are on the anti-mandate protest at parliament.
He says the Government has had months of criticism it wasn’t doing enough to protect Māori from Covid-19.
Those critics have fallen silent in the face of thousands of unmasked people blocking the streets around Parliiament demanding an end to pulbic health precautions.
“I just think that’s unacceptable when the pressure comes on they just fold and go weak at the knees and disappear off the radar. I’m not asking the to defend the Government. I’m saying though they should be putting as much effort into criticising the people putting critical outcomes for Māori at risk as they did into us when we were actually listening to what they said,” Mr Davis says.
He’s concerned at andecdotal reports some protesters were members of organisations which took money to help vaccinate Māori.
