Vaccine pass needed for pool picnic

Public pools across Auckland opened today for whānau with a valid vaccine pass.
Mangere’s Moana-Nui-ā-Kiwa Pool and Leisure centre opened its indoor pool for the first time since August with everyone from tamariki to kaumatua taking the plunge.
Manager Waitangi Mika says the challenge will be managing the 100-person capacity limit.
“When people rock up to the pools, they’re not just rocking up for an hour or two. It’s basically a day out or a picnic day or celebrating a birthday or like going to the beach, they park up for the whole day. We want to make sure that’s something we get right,” he says.
The facility’s outdoor pool should reopen in the next fortnight.
