Tribal MIQ for summer rush

Te Whānau ā Apanui has turned the Te Kaha Beach Hotel into a managed isolation and quarantine facility.
Spokesperson Louis Rapihana says it’s anticipating Covid-19 will come into the rohe with the summer surge of whānau coming home and from other holidaymakers.
The iwi is stockpiling medical supplies and other resources.
While whānau are expected to self-isolate at home, in many cases this may not be suitable in the houses they are staying at.
“It’s those kinds of people we will probably relocate to the MIQ at the Te Kaha Resort or the Te Kaha Hotel so that we can ensure they get the best medical treatment possible from our own doctor and her medical team on the coast there,” Mr Rapihana says.
Te Whānau ā Apanui is urging whānau to get tested before coming into the region over Christmas.
