Diversity policy a winner for Māori firms
An agency set up to help Māori and Pasifika firms sell goods and services to government and local government organisations and corporates have helped secure more than $100 million in contracts over the past year.
Amotai is funded by Te Puni Kōkiri and Auckland Council to both work with big buyers and to promote supplier diversity policies.
General manager Ariana Paul says it shows the impact of the Government’s five per cent target for public service contracts for Māori businesses set last December.
She says the businesses just needed to have a seat at the table and the opportunity to prove themselves, and many have gone on to win other contracts.
