Māori lawyers fuel power list

Indigenous rights advocate Natalie Coates has made the list of New Zealand’s most influential and powerful lawyers.
She was ranked number 47 on LawFuel website’s annual ‘Power List’.
It cited her arguments about mana that secured a posthumous appeal for Christchurch creche worker Peter Ellis.
Law Society president Tiana Epati was number four on the list, behind Attorney General David Parker, outgoing Governor General Dame Party Reddy and Solicitor General Una Jagose.
Leading sports lawyer and agent Warren Alcock, the first recorded Māori to graduate with LLB(hons) at Otago, came in at 48 on the list.
