Hipango shoulders workload in reshuffle

Returning MP Harete Hipango looks like a winner in the National’s caucus reshuffle, becoming the spokesperson for children/Oranga Tamariki, Whānau Ora, Māori development and Māori tourism.
Her previous research and science role has gone to first time MP Christopher Luxon, who will also talk on manufacturing, local government, associate transport and Land Information New Zealand.
Leader Judith Collins mounted the reshuffle because of the retirement of Nick Smith and Todd Muller’s decision to step down at the next election.
But she also seems to have used it to high profile MP Chris Bishop, who was unhappy with the caucus decision to vote against a ban on conversion therapy.
His shadow leader of the House portfolio was given to Michael Woodhouse, which Ms Collins says will enable Mr Bishop to focus solely on his role as National's spokesperson for the COVID-19 response.
