Iwi radio brought to phones
Te Whakaruruhau o Ngā Reo Irirangi Māori is today launching an app that will give people access to live and on-demand content and livestreams from the 21 iwi radio stations.
The Whare Kōrero app runs on both iOS and Android mobile devices.
Te Whakaruruhau chair Peter-Lucas Jones says iwi media has long been innovative in the ways it has sought to reach its audience.
He says in the spirit of mana motuhake and tino rangatiratanga, the app respects data sovereignty and doesn't track personal, identifiable information the way Big Tech platforms do.
