Bros for Change ready to expand

Christchurch-based Māori youth programme Bros for Change is marking its fifth birthday today with the release of a new online toolkit.
Founder Jaye Pukepuke says the Tīmatanga Hou toolkit will give other agencies and service providers the tools they need to implement the kaupapa.
Bros for Change programme helps rangatahi build a strong sense of culture and identity, and draws on tikanga Māori to break down barriers and build strong relationships between participants and facilitators.
To date, more than 200 rangatahi have taken part in the six-week programme, with a majority being supported into employment or further education.
Helen Leahy from whānau ora commissioning agency Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu, which funds the programme, says it has connected rangatahi with new experiences, tools and skills, expanded their horizons and cemented their relationships with their whānau and te ao Māori.
