Online publishing way to get Māori stories out
New Zealand author Steff Green has created a free scholarship programme to allow disabled writers and writers of colour to take her new online course, How to Rock Self-Publishing.
Green, who makes a living self-publishing romance novels, is herself legally blind, and says her own experience gives the lie to publishers' claims no one wants to read stories about people like her.
She says writing more diverse characters is only part of the solution, and the other part is to lift up voices that might not otherwise get heard.
Information about the scholarships is at her site rageagainstthemanuscript.com
