Lizzie Marvelly has been appointed as director of Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa.
It’s a return to her hometown for the singer and media commentator, who has whakapapa links to Te Arawa and Ngāti Whakaue.
She says it will be an honour to oversee the reopening of the museum, which was closed for earthquake strengthening in 2016.
With more than $53 million in funding raised and construction about to start, Ms Marvelly’s initial focus will be to rebuild the museum team for reopening in 2022.
