Māori entrepreneurship centre for Waikato
Māori business entrepreneurs, innovators and whānau in the Waikato region now have a new site to gather.
Te Ahikomako centre of Māori innovation and entrepreneurship is at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa's Mangakōtukutuku campus.
Māori Development Minister Nanaia Mahuta says it a place where people can access services to fulfill their business aspirations, including mentoring and business advice.
She says current figures suggest Māori enterprise is worth over $50 billion and is growing at a faster rate than the economy as a whole, with Māori likely to make more of an impact in regional economies.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment through the Provincial Growth Fund is contributing $500,000 to the centre and Te Puni Kōkiri a further $150,000.
