Ngāti Rangitihi endorse negotiators

Ngāti Rangitihi negotiators hope to conclude a settlement by the end of the year after 92 percent of iwi members voted in support of Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust reforming itself as a new Post-Settlement Governance Entity.
Te Mana chair Leith Comer says the change was needed to fit with new crown requirements for individual iwi settlements.
It will hold a special meeting in September where iwi members will be asked to approve to transfer the trust's existing assets, which comprise the Bay of Plenty iwi's share of the Central North Island Forests Settlement, to the new trust.
Mr Comer says he's delighted the people still have confidence in the trust.
He is urging all Ngāti Rangitihi descendants to register with the Trust so they can vote on the Deed of Settlement next year.
