Te Māngai Pāho wants more content made for rangatahi – but it doesn't know what they want.
Chief executive Larry Parr says that's one of the challenges of a new request for proposals for rangatahi-focused digital content.
But he says it's critical to get young people engaged with te reo Māori.
"Even our rangatahi that are brought up in immersion environments are defaulting to English in this new media landscape. They are not engaging with our traditional platforms, they are going to new platforms, and we are not getting Māori content into those new platforms quick enough," Mr Parr says.
Te Māngai Pāho is also looking at different ways of assessing proposals, and in its previously-tendered Snap Reo round it is giving people a chance to prototype ideas and test them with rangatahi workshops.
