Tourism taniwha offers advice and pūtea
New Zealand Māori Tourism is encouraging businesses or whānau with an idea for a new tourism product to enter the Māori tourism Dragon's Den.
Deputy chair Dan Walker says last year's competition drew more than 100 entries, and he's expecting more this year will be chasing the $10,000 prize money on offer in each of four categories.
Putting an application before the judges is worth the effort, because you never know who can help you achieve your dreams.
"These high calibre industry professionals, yes they’re called taniwha or dragons but it’s not like your traditional set up because there’s a lot of just really strong whanaungatanga, good support for those winners but also those who didn’t win felt encouraged and supported as well, lots of great networks came form the event so I just encourage everyone to give it a go," Mr Walker says.
There's just over two weeks to get an application in, with details on the Māori Tourism website.
