Mental health pilot extended

A free youth mental health programme piloted in Porirua in February is being extended across the Wellington region.
Piki offers 18 to 25 year olds with mild to moderate mental health free access to counselling services and other support.
Health Minister David Clark says three quarters of all lifetime cases of mental illness develop by 24 years of age, so Piki is about early intervention and preventing small problems becoming big issues.
Piki is delivered by Tū Ora Compass Health PHO and key partners.
A wellness app has now been developed for use in conjunction with face-to-face therapies, and a Piki self-referral website launched so eligible people can access help online.
