Church capturing sound of peace

An Auckland church wants to capture the sound of peace as an Anzac commemoration art project.
The Art of Remembrance will run this evening and tomorrow at St David’s Memorial Presbyterian Church on Khyber Pass, across the road from the Holy Sepulchre Tatai Hono.
Project director Paul Baragwanath says artist Jeff Smith is collecting the sound from a website, rememberthem.nz.
"Click on the sound of peace and then you can record your message of peace in whichever language you love so it could be 'peace be with you' in English or 'kia tau te rangimarie' in te reo Māori or any other languge. Your voice will be choreographed into the sound artwork that will be played back in surround sound," he says.
The Sound of Peace will be part of an evening of music in the grounds of St David’s with celebrated mezzo soprano Kristin Darragh who will sing arias and waiata, and lead the Off Broadway Big Ban’ and the audience in song.
After hospitality from 6pm tonight and a welcome from Mayor Phil Goff, the music starts at 7pm with Scottish bagpipes.
