Solomon wisdom sought for Whānau Ora funder
Former Ngāi Tahu chair Sir Mark Solomon has been appointed to the board of the general partnership for South Island Whānau Ora commissioning agency Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu.
Agency chief executive Helen Leahy says Tā Mark was instrumental in ensuring Te Putahitanga drew together all nine South Island iwi.
"He's had 18 years as kaiwhakahaere for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and more recently been taking roles with the DHB in Canterbury. He is the South island representative for the interim Te Roopu which is that advisory group advising the Government on family and sexual violence," she says.
The other new director is Sally Pitama, who has a background in family violence prevention as well as supporting refugee and migrant communities.
