Two minute silence for mosque attack
There will be a two minute silence on Friday to mark a week since the Christchurch mosque shootings.
Prime Minsiter Jacinda Ardern says the timing of the observance is still being decided.
Speaking at a press conference in the city yesterday, she says many people want to show support to the Muslim community as they return to mosques.
State broadcasters Radio New Zealand and TVNZ will also broadcast the traditional Call to Prayer.
A similar two minute silence was held after the Pike River mine disaster in 2010.
The first funeral for victims of the terror attack was held yesterday, for father and son Khaled and Hamza Mustafa who came to New Zealand as refugees from Syria.
There will be more funerals today.
So far 30 of the 50 bodies of those who died have been returned to the families.
