Porirua to test millenial mental health plan

Porirua is set to trial a new service for 18 to 25 year olds with mild to moderate mental health needs.
Health Minister David Clark says that's the age when three quarters of all lifetime cases of mental illness develop.
Early intervention initiatives in places like the United Kingdom have shown such an approach can help prevent small problems becoming major issues, but New Zealand needs tailored solutions that fit Māori and Pasifika communities.
That's why Porirua was seen as a good place for the Piki pilot.
Piki will also be rolled out in Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa regions and will be able to help an estimated 10,000 young people with mild to moderate mental health symptoms.
