The Council of Trade Unions wants workers and unions to have a say in planning for climate change.
Secretary Sam Huggard says there needs to be a plan for sustainable industries and jobs to replace jobs that may over time be phased out.
The CTU Rūnanga is also taking an interest because of the likely impact on Māori workers and communities.
He says it’s one of a range of challenges facing the future workforce, including automation and artificial intelligence.
