Revenge gives birthday cheer

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says the most satisfying part of the party reaching its 25th birthday is getting even with its enemies.
Mr Peters started Aotearoa Tuatahi after splitting from National and retaining his Tauranga set through a by-election.
Mr Peters says when it started it he never expected he would still be in parliament and leading it 25 years later.
"We’ve put up with some pretty bad publicity and character assassinations on the way through but I suppose we have had the satisfaction of getting even with most of our enemies or we will get even with them before too long," he says.
New Zealand First has been part of both Labour and National-led Governments, and managed to get back into parliament as a list-only party in 2011 after its share of the vote dropped below 4 percent in 2008.
