Māori firms team up for China online push
Māori producers of wine, mānuka honey, milk powder, fruit bars and kawakawa soft drink have banded together to establish a presence on one of China’s main e-commerce platforms.
Māori Development Minister Nanaia Mahuta says the 13-member Hui Māori Collective will sell through NZ Post’s flagship store on Tmall Global, which is part of the Alibaba Group.
NZ Post has a partnership with China Post allowing it to pack and send orders form its airport warehouse.
To make the site stand out, it also includes clips from the Modern Māori Quartet.
Ms Mahuta says it’s exciting to see Māori companies combine their products in such an innovative manner for an important export market.
