Tuaropaki punts on hydrogen power
Tuaropaki Trust has entered a joint venture with Obayashi Corporation, one of Japan’s most successful construction companies, to investigate whether they an produce hydrogen commercially using renewable geothermal energy.
Chair Tumanako Werata says the trust has a long commitment to renewable energy and is interested in other green energy alternatives.
Tuaropaki opened its Mokai power station near Taupo in 2000.
Obayashi Corporation is known for its expertise and technological innovation, and recently played a key role in the construction of Auckland’s dual 2.4km Waterview Connection road tunnel.
