Marae counts smokefree Christmas bonus
Lower Hutt's Kokiri Marae Keriana Olsen Trust says if they quit smoking now, whanau could have almost $1000 extra to spend on Christmas.
The trust says an average household spends around $140 a week on tobacco, and by starting today they could save over $980.
The trust runs a 24 hour quit line for smokers, and it's open for calls over the Christmas holidays.
And while it's offering a smokefree, stress free family Christmas day, it's not demanding people strive for perfection.
Its Christmas tips for a smokefree, stress free family Christmas day include eating a well balanced diet including drinking plenty of water, not striving for perfection, not taking on too much, setting a holiday budget and sticking to it, and remembering why you quit smoking.
