More than 900 former pupils, staff and supporters of St Joseph’s Maori Girls’ College are heading to Napier this weekend for the Maori Catholic boarding school’s 150th anniversary.
Organising committee member Julie Tangaere says entertainment for Saturday’s banquet dinner will include some of the old girls who have successful music careers.
There will also be a chance to revisit some of the spots past pupils will remember, such as the Mission vineyards.
She says principal Dame Georgina Kingi will bring her legendary efficiency to the three-day reunion but there is also plenty of time to just catch up.
"She’s making a time for people to just come together and have discussions and catch ups and I know she will be doing a tour of where some of the older students used to go when they were at school. They used to walk miles to the river and all those sorts of things and some of those older kuia like to go back to the places they used to walk to," Ms Tangaere says.
