Eight the place for Jones on NZ First list
Former Labour MP Shane Jones has been given incentive to campaign harder for New Zealand First, with the party giving its most profile recruit the number eight spot on its list.
That means if he doesn't overtake National Party incumbent Shane Reti in Whangarei, New Zealand First would need 7 percent of the party vote for him to return to parliament.
List MP Pita Paraone, who stood aside to let Mr Jones run in Whangarei, fares worse at number 11 – he will need the party to crack 10 percent if he is to have a fourth term in parliament.
Leader Winston Peters and Ron Mark take the top two spots, followed by former deputy Tracey Martin, Fletcher Tabuteau, Darroch Ball, and Clayton Mitchell.
The first non-MP at number seven is Clutha Southland candidate Mark Patterson, who farms at Lawrence.
