Collaboration key skill for next MTS CEO
Maori Television chair Georgina te Heuheu says the service will look for a new leader who is able to collaborate with others in the sector.
Current chief executive Paora Maxwell today announced he will leave in August, after just three years on the job.
Ms te Heuheu says he leaves on a high note with improved content and higher viewer numbers, as well as managing the shift to new south Auckland studios.
Mrs te Heuheu says the resignation isn’t about lack of delivery.
"It’s that the industry we're in is hugely difficult. Once upon a time when some of us may have thought we were all competitors in New Zealand, I don't think we are. I think we are all battling the same disruption, digital disruption that is so a part of the industry now and we're battling the big giants as well like Google, Facebook and so on," she says.
Georgina te Heuheu says Paora Maxwell came to the job with an impressive 30 year career in Maori television and a lifelong commitment to Maori language revival.
