Jackson in with a chance
Broadcaster Willie Jackson says he's happy with his place at 21 on Labour's party list, and he's looking forward to coordinating the campaign in the Maori seats.
The party's national council held back announcing the list because some candidates were unhappy with where they were placed, but after further discussion the rankings were left unchanged.
The highest placed Maori on the list is Northland candidate Willow Jean Prime at 16, with East Coast candidate Kiritapu Allen at 20 also likely to enter parliament.
Mr Jackson denied reports he was upset at not getting a top ten spot, and says party leader Andrew Little delivered on his promise to get him a winnable spot.
"I'm not bitter about anything. It's all good and I am pleased with the list and the balance we are going to get more Maori than anyone if us three get in as we should get in off the list. Then you've got the six Maori MPs and Paul Eagle, Louisa Wall. It's not about me. it's about getting a good set of Maori across the line.
Willie Jackson says he didn't want to go to parliament to be in Opposition.
